By Gabby Hinojosa

Our Holy Family middle school students encountered Christ in Eucharistic Adoration today — a moment of peace and prayer that reminds us of God’s loving presence. The students were led in prayer and song by Sister Rene Noel and Amarise Lindauer accompanied by Clarissa Soto on piano. A special thank you to Deacon Mike Owens of Saint Thomas More Catholic Church for presiding today.

Celebrating Holy Day of Obligation August 15

August 15, 2025
By Susan Laielli

Holy Family Catholic School students, faculty, and staff joined Father Tom Reitmeyer, Pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church - Austin, TX, and Deacon Chris Sperling at Mass for the Holy Day of Obligation - The Assumption.
For some younger students, it was the first time they attended Mass without mom or dad, AND they did amazing!
Many students wonder: What is the difference between the Ascension and the Assumption?  Jesus ascended.  Mary was assumed.  Because Jesus is God, He went up into Heaven by His own power.  Mary, however, is a creature.  She is not God.  Thus, she could not ascend to Heaven by her own power.  Thus, she was assumed – taken up into Heaven.
